Twas the Night of Halloween
February 13th, 2013 | by admin admin | in Safety Advice | 0
'Twas the night of Hallowe’en, when all through the home
The children were bursting, ready to roam
The candles were set in the pumpkins with care
In hopes that l’il goblins soon would be there
The tricksters were bundled all snug in their threads
While visions of chocolates danced in their heads
Sophie sparkled in white; her wand lit the night
Ethan the Pirate wielded a sword fierce and bright
But out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
They raced off to see what was the matter
Poor Billy had tripped on a wire, bumped into a tree
With his heavy black mask, he could not see
The rain pouring down on the lawn, on the street
Made the ground slide and slip beneath his feet.
Then, what to their wondering eyes should appear
But dazzling fireworks filling the air
Far, far away, a jolly old man, so lively and quick
Lit the fuse with a special stick
The children squealed with glee, but the noise was too loud
For Bubbles the beagle bolted, panicked by the crowd
He streaked into the street, without stopping or slowing
The kids yelled and screamed, tears began flowing
Luckily, the drivers all followed the rules
Their cars snaked slowly, like they do around schools
They stopped for Bubbles, who meekly came
When Dad whistled, and shouted, and called him by name
Everyone cheered and called, as they marched out of sight,
"Happy Hallowe’en to all, and to all a good night!”
