Radius Security Remote Guarding 2016: Saving Lives and Protecting Property
March 30th, 2017 | by admin admin | in | 12016 has been a year of tremendous growth for Radius Security, especially in our Remote Guarding division. From construction sites to car dealerships to marinas, our remote video monitoring systems have caught criminals in the act and led to 137 apprehensions. Less well known, perhaps, are the many times our monitoring station operators have called an ambulance or the fire department to save a client.
Medical Alarms
Client A struggles to breathe, despite her oxygen feed. Client B is diabetic and can’t find his insulin. Client C is suffering significant pain and paralysis. These clients all contacted Radius using their medical alarm pendants. Radius operators confirmed their situations, arranged for access and contacted the B.C. Ambulance service. In each case, the patient received the care he or she needed.
Fire Alarms
A cord catches fire on a stove. A candle is left unattended. The battery on an electric bike catches fire. Fires start for many reasons. Once the fire alarm signal reaches Radius, our operators confirm the fire department is on site or en route, and the client aware of the situation. We also note any technical issues that need attention. In each of these cases, the fire was quickly contained and at most, only a few units in the apartment or condominium building were damaged.
Remote Guarding
Several times each week, our remote video monitoring systems lead to police apprehensions. The Caught in the Act page on the Radius Security web site highlights some of the situations where remote guarding has proved effective.
A couple rummages through boxes at a marina (Deck Hands?). Another group steals liquor from yachts (Holiday Spirits). Yet another couple shares what appears to be a meth pipe (Lighting Up)
Police have a suspect in handcuffs minutes after a Radius security camera catches him testing door handles on a car lot (Quick Arrest)
And with Radius, there’s no hiding from the cops, whether you’re at an auto dealership (From Cars to Cuffs) or a construction site (Never Give Up).
Many suspects seem fond of climbing cranes at construction sites.
And stealing copper. Lots of Copper.
Apprehensions at Prairie Coast Equipment, a heavy equipment dealer in Langley, led the RCMP to describe our client as a “poster child for crime prevention.” PCE recently credited Radius Security with eliminating its extensive losses from theft. When a would-be burglar paid the company damages in court, Radius was jokingly dubbed a “profit centre.”
Now that’s the high note on which we would like to end 2016.
